Instead of New Year’s Resolutions, I am doing New Year’s Theme. This focus more on the what and why but less on how. This way I am not stuck with “doing push-ups every day” when I find out other forms of exercises are better for me 6 months from now.
For 2022, I have decided to be the year of action.
I want more:
- Self-Love
- Quality time with the family
- Quality time with friends
- Woodworking
- Moderate exercises
- Reading
- Writing
- Cooking
- Sleep
- Outdoor
I want less:
- Worrying about investment portfolios
- Fear driven inaction
- Perfection driven inaction
- Aimlessly consuming online content
- Indoor
- Politeness and insincerity
I want to take care of myself by being really honest to myself. Asking myself what do I want in life. What are my core values? What do I really care? What kind of activities nourish my soul?
I realized sacrificing my own happiness for others is not sustainable. I found out that I actually enjoy reading if I am genuinely interested in the topic or I am connected to author’s message. Writing daily helps me to organize my thoughts and encourage more reading. Cooking the food I grow up with brings me comfort and joy. Spending time outdoor improves my mood.
In 2022, I will truly embrace index investing. This will drastically simplify my investing portfolios. Time in the market is much more important than timing the market. I realized I don’t want to live a life where fear and perfectionism are slowing me down. Overcome the fear of failure and try it! Overcome the perfectionism, pick a direction, and go for it! Stop consuming online content to procrastinate doing the important but not urgent tasks. Last but not least, I want to be more authentic and say what I think.
What is your 2022 theme?
