Last year around Thanksgiving time, my wife and I did what we call “Couple Shop Time.” I am into woodworking while she is into making jewelries(metal working). It is a lot of fun working in the garage at the same time.
I was in the middle of a tool box project and I need to cut some boards to length and make sure the ends are square. Since power tools are off the table, I had to do it with hand tools. The first attempt was slow and inaccurate. But by the time I finish the fourth one, the result was not half bad. Turns out, I am capable of sawing a board relatively square with a back saw and shooting the endgrain square.
The first step is to pick up that saw or hand plane and believe hand skills can be learned by doing.
